ARLINGTON, Texas - University of Oklahoma senior Cecil Rose was OU's lone winner in the weather-delayed Arlington Track and Field Invitational Saturday. Heavy thunderstorms delayed the start of the meet, then another line of storms cancelled the final five events.

The second round of stormy weather hit right after the women's 200-meter dash, forcing the cancellation of the men's 200, the men's and women's 5000 meters and the men's and women's 1600-meter relay. The men's pole vault was not held and results were delayed for a day because of computer problems caused by the storms.

Rose won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a 10:02.07. It was the first time this season for the Missouri City, Texas, senior to compete in that event.

A total of 23 Sooner women improved or established season bests in the event and 14 Sooner men did the same. One of the first-time competitors Saturday was high jumper Kris Glenn who cleared 6-0.5 in his first competition in more than a year. Glenn injured his knee last year and has undergone surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation period to return to competition.

The Sooner squads will split up this weekend. Those who have marks that qualify will head south for the Texas Relays which run Thursday through Saturday in Austin. The rest of the Sooners will compete in the Emporia State Relays on Saturday.

Winners plus OU results -- Meet cancelled after the women's 200-meter dash because of thunderstorms. The men's 200, men's and women's 5000, men's and women's 1600-meter relay and men's pole vault were not conducted.
