NORMAN, Okla. - With the third week of fall practice underway for the Oklahoma baseball team, things are starting to change with respect to what's being done on the field and what Sooner Head Coach Larry Cochell and his staff are giving attention to.

"We're doing a lot more intrasquad," said Cochell, who will be starting his 12th season as OU's mentor in 2002. "However, we're still making corrections when necessary. The teaching part will always be there. That's a main part of fall practice."

Cochell also mentioned this part of fall practice, two weeks through, is where player evaluation begins.

"Intrasquad practices are an excellent way to evaluate players and to see how they're gong to contribute best to the program," added Cochell, "but it's certainly not the only method."

As for the newcomers, 23 to be exact, Cochell likes what he sees.

"So far, I'm not disappointed," said Cochell. "Although, it's still early and we need more time to evaluate those players. But, generally speaking, I'm happy with the group."
