The men's and women's teams will head to Tulsa Friday for the season-opening Hurricane Invitational to be hosted by the University of Tulsa. The women will start at 6:30 p.m. with a two-mile run and the men will follow with a four-mile race. Competition will be held at Mohawk Park.

The Maycumber File
Coach Todd Maycumber is entering his third season as the head cross country coach for OU. He is also an assistant coach for the track team where he works with middle distance and distance runners.
Maycumber began his career as a Oklahoma after transferring from New Mexico in 1990, where he was a two-time all-conference selection.
As a Sooner, Maycumber was a three-year letterwinner and earned All-Big Eight Conference honors as a junior and senior.
Maycumber graduated in May of 1994 with a health and sport sciences degree.
He and his wife Stefanie were married in January of 1994. Their son, DeShon Charles, was born in March 2000.

OU will travel to Arlington, Texas, for the UTA Open on Saturday, Sept. 8. The Open is the first of three meets scheduled for the Sooners during the month of September.
The Sooners will host the Big 12 Preview on Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at Jimmie Austin Golf Course, then will host the Big 12 Championship on the same course on Oct. 27. The conference meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
