The Elite Scholar-Athlete award recognizes the true essence of student-athletes by honoring the individuals who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The Elite Scholar-Athlete award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
Yockers is the second straight OU men's gymnast to earn the Elite Scholar-Athlete award (
Matthew Burgoyne won last season) and the seventh Oklahoma student-athlete to earn the Elite Scholar-Athlete award, formerly known as the Elite 90 award. This is the sixth straight year a Sooner has won an Elite Scholar-Athlete award. Previous OU winners are Kim Moldenhauer (rowing, 2012-13), C.J. Cole (men's basketball, 2015-16), Lily Miyazaki (women's tennis, 2017-18), Emma LaPinta (women's gymnastics, 2020-21 and 2021-22), Meillin Sullivan (women's gymnastics, 2022-23 and 2023-24) and Burgoyne.
