NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's gymnastics team is No. 1 in the Week 10 rankings with a 326.833 four-score average after posting a 325.250 team score in a win over No. 8 California (315.100) on Saturday at Haas Pavilion.
The Sooners rank ahead of No. 2 Michigan (324.500), while No. 3 Stanford (321.583), No. 4 Nebraska (321.050) and No. 5 Ohio State (318.883) round out the top five. Teams are ranked this week based on four-score averages. A team's four-score average is determined by taking its four highest scores, at least two of which must come from away meets, dropping the highest score and averaging the remaining three.
OU holds first place on pommel horse (55.783) and still rings (53.950). The Sooners rank second on vault (55.867), parallel bars (54.317) and horizontal bar (53.417). Oklahoma also ranks fifth on floor exercise (54.017).
Oklahoma has two gymnasts ranked No. 1 on individual events, with freshman Nathan Roman atop the parallel bars rankings (14.200) and Kelton Christiansen leading the high bar rankings (14.083).
Freshman Sasha Bogonosiuk ranks eighth on floor exercise (13.767). Redshirt freshman Colby Aranda ranks fourth on pommel horse (14.350), while senior Ignacio Yockers is fifth (14.317). Sophomore Francisco Velez Belendez ranks second on still rings (13.983), and junior Tas Hajdu is 10th (13.750). Bogonosiuk ranks fourth on vault (14.267), while senior Fuzzy Benas is ninth (14.150). Redshirt sophomore Brandon Zepeda-Orth ranks eighth on high bar (13.717).
Oklahoma takes a week off from competition before returning to Berkeley, California, for the MPSF Championship on April 4, hosted by California.
