Oklahoma Tabbed as No. 4 Seed in NCAA Tournament

March 15, 2026 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN – For the 26th time in program history, Oklahoma is headed to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship. The Sooners earned the No. 4 seed in the Sacramento 4 Region and will host first- and second-round games at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.

The 10th-ranked Sooners will open against Big Sky champion and No. 13 seed Idaho on Friday. The winner advances to face either No. 5 Michigan State or No. 12 seed Colorado State, in Sunday's second-round game at the LNC.

"We're grateful for the chance to compete in the NCAA Tournament and to do it at home in front of Sooner Nation," head coach Jennie Baranczyk said. "This team has grown a lot since November - in how we play together, how we respond to adversity and how we continue to improve every day. Hosting at the LNC is a testament to the work our players have put in all season, and we can't wait to play in front of our fans again."

Oklahoma enters the tournament at 24-7 overall and is led by All-SEC selections Raegan Beers and Aaliyah Chavez. Chavez was named ESPN's National Freshman of the Year and Beers is a finalist for the Wooden Award, given annually to the nation's best player. Powered offensively by the second-highest scoring starting five in the country, OU is on pace to break the school record for scoring offense at 86.7 points per game. On the other end of the floor, the Sooners in the top 30 nationally in defensive rating.

The Sooners have reached the NCAA Tournament in all five seasons under Baranczyk and have earned a top-five seed in each appearance, tying the program record for consecutive tournaments as a top-five seed (2006-10). Lloyd Noble Center will host NCAA Tournament games for the eighth time in program history and for the second consecutive season, marking just the second back-to-back hosting opportunity in school history (2001-02).

Oklahoma has now made 26 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 24 since 2000. The Sooners have advanced to three Final Fours (2002, 2009, 2010) and 11 Sweet 16s, most recently last season.

The 2026 championship marks the fifth tournament featuring a 68-team field. First Four games will be played March 18-19 at four of the top-16 host sites, with first- and second-round games scheduled for March 20-23 on campus sites.

Regional play will be split between two locations. Eight teams will compete at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, while the remaining eight will play at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. Regional games will be held March 27-30.

The 2026 Women's Final Four is set for April 3 and 5 at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Tickets for games at Lloyd Noble Center are available through the Oklahoma Ticket Office.
