URBANA, Ill. – The No. 6 Oklahoma women's tennis team fell to No. 3 North Carolina, 4-1, in the consolation round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Sunday at the Atkins Tennis Center.

For the 10th consecutive match to open the spring, the Sooners secured the doubles point. The pairing of No. 56 Gloriana Nahum and Chloé Noël got OU on the board first, earning a 6-4 win over Theadora Rabman and Reese Brantmeier on court three. North Carolina responded on court two, as Anna Frey and Tatum Evans handed Julia Garcia Ruiz and Salakthip Ounmuang their first doubles loss of the season with a 7-5 victory.

With the doubles point on the line, freshmen Evialina Laskevich and Edda Mamedova delivered in their first match together as a doubles pair, outlasting No. 5 Susanna Maltby and Oby Kajuru in a 7-6 (3) tiebreak on court one to clinch the opening point for Oklahoma.

The Tar Heels answered decisively in singles play, stringing together four consecutive victories to take the match. North Carolina first evened the score on court three, where No. 21 Evans defeated Mamedova, 6-2, 6-3. Shortly after, No. 7 Kajuru earned a straight-set win over No. 12 Garcia Ruiz at the No. 2 spot, followed by No. 1 Brantmeier's 6-4, 6-2 victory against Laskevich on court one to give UNC a 3-1 advantage.

After dropping the opening set on the remaining three courts, Noël, Ounmuang and Nahum each rallied to force third sets, but North Carolina ultimately clinched the match on court four, as No. 49 Frey outlasted Noël, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. The matches on courts five and six were left unfinished.
