No. 3 Sooners Drop Series Opener in Tucson, 11-6

TUCSON, Ariz. — Despite a home run barrage in the first two innings, No. 17 Arizona (3-0) rallied back with eight runs in their final two trips to the plate as the No.3 Sooners (1-1), dropped the series opener, 11-6, Friday, Feb. 6.

The Sooners went back-to-back again in the second inning, with Gabbie Garcia and Allyssa Parker hitting opposite field home runs. The Wildcats scratched across another unearned run in the second inning before Parker settled in to work a scoreless third inning and fourth inning.

Pickering drove in Ella Parker with an RBI single in the fourth, OU's final run of the game. With OU leading, 6-3, Arizona's Grace Jenkins homered to make it 6-5. The Wildcats would score six two-out runs in the sixth inning to take the 11-6 lead and the win. Arizona used a pair of bases-loaded walks, with the second being added by two pitch clock violations.
