Top-Two Battle Set for Friday Night in Norman

February 19, 2026 | Women's Gymnastics

NORMAN — The most anticipated matchup of the season comes to Lloyd Noble Center on Friday night as the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team and No. 2 LSU Tigers square off in the first top-two battle of the year.

The last two NCAA National Champions will go head-to-head inside the LNC at 7:45 p.m. CT on ESPN2. John Roethlisberger, Bridget Sloan and Taylor Davis will be on the call.

This is the first trip to Norman for the Tigers since 2014. OU is 17-3 against LSU since that meeting, however the Tigers won last year's regular season matchup in Baton Rouge.

WEEKEND REWIND
A historic win and a perfect 10 were the highlights of Oklahoma's top five matchup with No. 5 Florida on Friday night. The Sooners earned a 198.075-197.575 victory over the Gators, the first win in Gainesville in program history. Prior to Friday night, OU was 0-7 all-time against Florida in its home arena, including regular season losses in 2018 and 2022. The Sooners handed the Gators their first home loss since Jan. 26, 2024 and back-to-back losses in SEC action for the first time since 2006.

Addison Fatta became the second Sooner to earn a perfect 10 this season as the sophomore earned her first career perfect score. Fatta anchored the vault lineup with her 10.0, just the fourth athlete this season to do so.

The beam squad clinched the meet with a 49.700, counting only marks of 9.90 or higher. Ella Murphy led the way with a career-high 9.975 and Faith Torrez and Keira Wells each added 9.95s. Elle Mueller tallied a career high of her own with a 9.925.

SWEET HOME OKLAHOMA
Oklahoma is 155-4 inside Lloyd Noble Center since the arrival of head coach K.J. Kindler in 2007 and has posted 93 consecutive home victories across 62 meets dating back to 2014. The 2026 senior class is currently undefeated at home in their careers.

BATTLE OF THE BEST
Since 2019, the Sooners have been a part of seven No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchups, including Friday's meeting with No. 2 LSU. Ahead of Friday night, the Sooners are 4-2 in such matchups, with both losses coming to teams ranked No. 2 (Michigan – 2023; LSU – 2025). Out of the seven top two matchups, the Sooners have been the No. 1 team on six occasions. In 2022, OU was No. 2 in its victory over No. 1 Michigan. This is the second-straight season the Sooners will face LSU in a top two battle in a regular season dual meet.

STEPPING UP AND SHOWING OUT
With the absence of an incredible senior class, the OU freshmen have stepped up to fill the void. The trio of Mackenzie Estep, Ella Murphy and Kamila Pawlak account for nearly 30 percent of OU's routines this season.

In 22 competition routines, Estep has recorded 13 scores of 9.90 or higher, including a career-high 10.0 on vault. Murphy has tallied 10 marks of 9.9-plus with a career best 9.975 on beam. Pawlak has been in every floor lineup, posting a career-high 9.95 twice this season and four marks over 9.90 in seven routines.
Estep and Murphy have won four of the seven SEC Freshman of the Week honors this season.

YOUNG AND HUNGRY
With 11 underclassmen on this year's roster, the Sooners are younger than they have been in the last few years. However, the freshmen and sophomore classes have taken the reigns and are prepared to lead the team.

The underclassmen have combined for 74% of routines competed in 2026 (125 of 168). The freshmen have contributed 49 routines through seven meets while the sophomores are responsible for 76. Mackenzie Estep, Addison Fatta, Elle Mueller, Ella Murphy and Lily Pederson have all competed at least three events multiple meets. Through the first seven meets, the freshmen and sophomores have a 100% hit rate (125 of 125).

FANTASTIC FATTA
Sophomore Addison Fatta is making a name for herself as one of the top all-around competitors in the country in her second year of collegiate competition. With a career-high 39.750 set earlier this year, Fatta is one of only four athletes to reach the 39.700 mark joining UCLA's Jordan Chiles, LSU's Kailin Chio and Utah's Avery Neff.
The Wrightsville, Pa., native has reached new heights this year, recording a career high on vault (10.0) and floor (9.975) and tying her career high on beam (9.95). She has competed all-around in every meet of the season with 19 scores of 9.90 or higher over 28 routines (67.8 percent).

SEEING DOUBLE
With two quad meets on the schedule for 2026, the Sooners will see a pair of SEC foes twice during the regular season. OU opens the season in a quad meet featuring LSU, before hosting the Tigers in Norman in February. An early February quad meet at the annual Metroplex Challenge pits Oklahoma against Arkansas, before the Sooners travel to the home of the Razorbacks in early March.

OU is 1-0-1 in these meetings after tying LSU at the Sprouts Quad and defeating Arkansas at the Metroplex Challenge.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
No. 2 LSU: Led by Kailin Chio's 39.875, the Tigers are coming off a 198.325 victory over Auburn last weekend. The Tigers posted a season-high 49.775 on floor, just the fourth team this season to reach 49.700 on any event. Chio, one of the nation's top all-arounders, boasts an NQS of 39.520 and ranks third in the nation, just behind Addison Fatta.

QUICK FLIPS
· The Sooners are the only SEC team to have multiple athletes earn a perfect 10 this season in Addison Fatta and Mackenzie Estep.
· With a 197.500 in the season opener, the Sooners have scored a 197-plus in the opening meet of the year every year since 2017.
· Beam has consistently been one of OU's strongest events as the season-high 49.700 on Feb. 13 is only the 10th-highest score on the event in program history.
· OU has faced six teams who were ranked in the top five at the time of competition this season and is 5-0-1 in those meetings.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Sooners will stay home to host Auburn on Friday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m. CT, before heading to Arkansas for the final SEC regular season meet of the year on Friday, March 6.
