Sooners Run-Rule TCU, Win Shriners Showdown

February 16, 2026 | Baseball

ARLINGTON, Texas — No. 19/RV Oklahoma claimed the Shriners Children's College Showdown title with a 12-2 run-rule victory Sunday night over No. 10 TCU.

The Sooners (3-0) were the only team to go undefeated in the tournament, sweeping through opening weekend with wins over Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and TCU. Senior Trey Gambill was named the tournament's most outstanding player after going 4-for-7 with two home runs, five RBIs and six walks throughout the weekend.

Sunday's win was highlighted by the debut of freshman left-handed pitcher Cord Rager (W, 1-0) who went five innings and struck out eight while surrendering just one run on two hits with three walks. Junior Gavyn Jones finished the job, striking out a pair across the final two innings before the Sooner offense ended the game early.

At the plate, sophomore Camden Johnson went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBIs and his first home run as a Sooner. Sophomore Kyle Branch hit his first home run of the season, bringing in three in a 2-for-4 performance. Junior transfer Deiten Lachance went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and the walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.
