No. 21 OU Beats New Mexico State, Caps Opening Weekend Sweep

February 16, 2026 | Baseball

ARLINGTON, Texas — No. 21 Oklahoma defeated New Mexico State 10-6 Monday night to complete its opening weekend road trip to Globe Life Field at 4-0.

The Sooners fell behind 2-0 in the first before responding with five runs on one hit, two bases-loaded walks and a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning. Senior Cayden Brumbaugh registered his first hit as a Sooner, dropping in an RBI double to right field.

OU plated another pair in the second via sac fly and RBI groundout before a bases-clearing double from junior Deiten Lachance in the third pushed three across. It was Lachance's second extra-base hit in as many days after a 2-for-4, three RBI showing vs. No. 10 TCU Sunday evening.

The Sooners cruised the rest of the way, allowing just one run to scratch across in the final six innings. OU utilized eight pitchers on the night, paced by two-strikeout performances from junior transfers Mason Bixby and Isaac Williams.
