ESTEP NAMED SEC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
A career night in the first home meet of the season earned freshman
Mackenzie Estep her second SEC Freshman of the Week honor. With Estep's nod this week, a Sooner has now won all three freshman of the week honors this season as
Ella Murphy earned the honor in week two. LSU's Kailin Chio was named the gymnast of the week and Florida's Riley McCusker was named specialist of the week. Estep posted three career-high marks of 9.9-plus to lead the Sooners to season-high scores on vault and floor. The Auburn, Wash., native began the meet with a 9.975 on vault to earn her first event title of the meet. She then earned a share of first place on bars with a 9.925 and later recorded a 9.925 on floor for a share of fourth place.
FANTASTIC FRESHMEN
The freshman class has made a major impact just three weeks into the season. After combining for half of OU's 10 scores of 9.9-plus in the season opener, the freshmen have kept it going by accounting for 36 percent of the 9.9[plus scores earned by Oklahoma this season (13-of-36). The trio of
Mackenzie Estep,
Ella Murphy and
Kamila Pawlak have contributed over 25 percent of OU's routines in 2026 and account for at least two freshmen being in two of the four lineups. Murphy is the only freshman in the beam lineup and Estep is the only freshman in the vault lineup, while all three were in the floor lineup the last two weeks.
YOUNG AND HUNGRY
With 11 underclassmen on this year's roster, the Sooners are younger than they have been in the last few years. However, the freshmen and sophomore classes have taken the reigns and are prepared to lead the team. The underclassmen have combined for 74 percent of routines competed in 2026 (53-of-72). The freshmen have contributed 20 routines through three meets while the sophomores are responsible for 33.
Mackenzie Estep,
Addison Fatta,
Ella Murphy and
Lily Pederson have all competed at least three events in at least one meet this season. Through the first three meets, the freshmen and sophomores have a hit rate of 98 percent (52-of-53).
CLOUD 9.9
Through three meets, 50 percent of the Sooners' routines have gone 9.90 or higher (36-of-72). With just 19 through the first two meets, OU doubled its output with 17 against Georgia on Jan. 23. OU has tallied 11 scores of 9.9-plus on both vault and beam and seven each on bars and floor. Prior to the Georgia meet, the Sooners had just one score of 9.9 or better on floor.
ROAD WARRIORS
In the last decade, the Sooners have shown they are a force to be reckoned with away from the friendly confines of Lloyd Noble Center. Since 2015, the Sooners boast a 247-15-1 record on the road, a 94 percent win rate. This includes a 62-6 record at true away competition sites and a 187-9-1 mark at neutral sites.
THE RANKINGS ARE IN
