LAST TIME OUT

No. 16 Oklahoma (16-4, 4-3 SEC) defeated Auburn (13-8, 2-5 SEC), 72-65, at Neville Arena in Auburn on Sunday to win its second straight game and finish the week with a 2-0 record after beating No. 2 South Carolina on Thursday. The Sooners battled for 40 minutes with the Tigers, leading 19-12 after the first quarter and by five at the break. The Sooners' five-point lead held through the third frame before Auburn tied the game at 59 with 4:50 left in the fourth. The Sooners closed the game on a 13-6 run that was highlighted by a Zya Vann dagger 3-pointer with under a minute left to seal the win.

Aaliyah Chavez led OU in scoring for the ninth time this year, finishing with 18 points and four made 3-pointers. The freshman guard also added four assists and two rebounds in the win. Freshman Brooklyn Stewart had a career day, scoring a career-high 12 points and matching her career bests with eight rebounds and four assists. Four Sooners scored in double figures as OU improved to 15-1 on the year when scoring 70 points and 109-20 since 2021. Oklahoma shot 41.9% on the day, moving to 14-0 this season when shooting 40% or better from the floor – OU shot 47% in the second half.

THE STARTING FIVE NOTES

• The Sooners are one of the most balanced teams in the country, with all five starters averaging double figures. Oklahoma is one of just five Power Five teams nationally with at least five double-digit scorers, and the Sooners' success is directly tied to that balance. When four Sooners score 10 or more points, OU is 14-1 this season and a perfect 8-0 when all five starters reach double figures.

• One of the nation's top duos, freshman guard Aaliyah Chavez and senior All-American center Raegan Beers are both Wooden Award midseason top-25 finalists. The pair averages 35.7 points per game, ranking seventh among Power Five duos and second in the SEC, trailing only Florida. Chavez or Beers has led Oklahoma in scoring in 15 games this season, and the Sooners are 13-2 when one of the two is the team's leading scorer. When the duo combines for at least 35 points, OU is 11-1, with the lone loss coming against No. 18 Ole Miss. Additionally, Oklahoma is 10-0 when Chavez leads the team in assists.

• Oklahoma jumped to No. 10 in this week's AP Poll and 11th in the USA Today Coaches Poll after defeating No. 2 South Carolina last Thursday and then winning at Auburn on Sunday. Oklahoma carries a 41-week active streak in the AP poll (6th longest in NCAA), the third-longest run in program history and the program's longest stretch since a 59-week span from 2000-03.

• Oklahoma's 89.1 points per game rank third nationally and are powered by 21.0 assists per game (5th NCAA). The Sooners play fast – leading the nation in adjusted pace at 78.5 possessions/game, and ranks among the national leaders in multiple offensive categories, including pace (78.5, 1st), scoring offense (89.1, 3rd), second-chance points (17.1, 4th), fast-break points (18.2, 4th), assists (21.0, 5th), paint points (44.7, 6th) and offensive rating (110.4, 23rd).

• One of the nation's most best defenses, OU ranks second in the country in opponent field goal percentage (32.3%), holding teams 11.6% below their season shooting average and 12.3 points under their typical scoring output. The Sooners have the seventh best defensive rating (78.6) in the country and have only allowed three teams to score over the season average this season.
