No. 2 Softball Scores 11 Unanswered Runs in Record-Setting Win Against No. 18 OSU
April 09, 2025 | Softball
Game Sets NCAA Softball Regular Season Single Game Attendance Record at 9,259
Maya Bland hit what turned out to be the game winning three-run home run during a five-run fourth inning, just after Sam Landry worked around a bases loaded jam in the top half of the frame. The Sooners added four more in the fifth to complete the run-rule win.
OU 11, OSU 3 (5 inn.)
Oklahoma State took advantage in the first, scoring two runs on two errors and a single. Landry settled in to strand a pair of OSU runners and turned in a scoreless second, but Rosie Davis homered to right center to make it 3-0 OSU in the top of the third.
From there it was all Sooners. Bland drew a key leadoff walk in the bottom half of the third inning, setting up Kasidi Pickering for a two-run homer to right field. The Cowgirls looked to respond in the top of the fourth, loading the bags with nobody out, but Landry got the next three batters. Landry fanned a batter, Ailana Agbayani made a diving play to rob Tallen Edwards of extra bases and made the inning-ending play on a groundout.
OU took that momentum into a big fourth inning, scoring five runs. Abigale Dayton and Agbayani worked walks before Bland hit a three-run homer to right center, giving OU a 5-3 lead. With two away, Nelly McEnroe-Marinas reached on an error and scored on a blistering RBI single from Ella Parker. Gabbie Garcia added another with an RBI double to left.
Up 7-3, the Sooners sent eight batters to the plate to finish the game early. Agbayani was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on a Hannah Coor RBI single to right. Pickering came within inches of her second homer of the night, lifting a double off the top of the wall in right to score Coor.
Parker made it 10-3 with her third hit of the night, doubling in Pickering before Garcia ended it early with an RBI single to center.
