Oklahoma in Second After 36 Holes at Aggie Invitational

BRYAN, Texas ā Led by two Sooners in the top five, No. 6 Oklahoma wrapped up day one of the Aggie Invitational in second place and within striking distance of No. 19 Texas A&M heading into the final round.
Oklahoma (2, +4) held the lead at the turn of the first round, but the Aggies rallied at their home course to pull ahead after 36 holes. Jase SummyĀ (T4, +1), coming off a win at Maridoe, is tied with teammate Ryder Cowan (T4, +1) for fourth at 1-over par, four shots back of A&M's Phichaksn Maichon who built a two-shot lead.Ā
The Sooners fired rounds of 284 and 296 on Monday at the par-72 Traditions Golf Club in Bryan and lead third-place Louisiana by nine shots.
True freshman Clark Van Gaalen joined Cowan and Summy inside the top 10, sitting in a tie for eighth at 2-over. One shot behind him is senior Drew Goodman in a share of 12th.
Matthew Troutman (T15, +4) led early in the day but carded a 6-over 78 in the afternoon to fall into a tie for 15th.
Playing as individuals, PJ Maybank (T31, +8) and Jaxon Dowell (T44, +10) sit outside the top 30.
