Sooners lead through 36 at Spartan Sun Coast Invitational

SARASOTA, Fla. – Oklahoma leads the field after shooting a 36-hole 2-under 574 on the first day of the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational at the par-72 Palm Aire Country Club on Sunday.

The Sooners lead No. 25 Ohio State (E) by two strokes and third-place College of Charleston (+1) by three strokes heading into the final round on Monday. Freshman Audrey Rischer paced OU with a 5-under 139 on Sunday and sits in third place individually. Oklahoma is seeking its 13th victory under head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell and its first back-to-back tournament wins since the 2011-2012 season.

Rischer, a Columbia, Mo. product, was the only Sooner to shoot under par in both rounds today, carding a 69 and 70 by way of eight birdies and three bogeys.

Juniors MaKayla Tyrrell (T12, E) and Savannah Barber (T16, +1) sit in the top 20 after two rounds. Tyrrell fired three birdies, four bogeys and an eagle in the first round and three birdies and three bogeys in the second round to card a 72 in both rounds today. Barber fired five birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in the first 18 before tallying five birdies, three bogeys and two double bogeys in the second round to sit in a tie for 16th.

Junior Gracie Mayo (T48, +6) carded five bogeys in the first round for a 77 and two birdies and three bogeys for a 73 in the second round to move up 11 spots on the leaderboard and tie for 48th. Senior Reagan Chaney (T50, +7) rounded out the OU lineup, carding rounds of 73 and 78 to tie for 51st moving into the final round.

The Sooners will begin the final 18 holes of the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational at 7:15 a.m. CT Monday with a shotgun start. Live scoring is available via GolfStat.
