10 Sooners Named to All-SEC Teams

NORMAN — Oklahoma senior defensive lineman R Mason Thomas, redshirt junior kicker Tate Sandell and redshirt junior punter Grayson Miller were named to the All-SEC First Team, and seven more Sooners earned a total of eight second- and third-team honors, the conference office announced Tuesday. Selections were made by the league's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

OU redshirt junior Isaiah Sategna III was named to the All-SEC Second Team as a wide receiver and all-purpose player. He was joined on the second team by redshirt senior offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu, redshirt junior long snapper Ben Anderson, junior defensive back Peyton Bowen and redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Taylor Wein. Senior tight end Jaren Kanak and sophomore defensive back Eli Bowen were selected to the All-SEC Third Team.

Oklahoma's 11 total first-, second- or third-team honors ranked second in the league, behind only Georgia's 12. Texas and Texas A&M had eight total honorees each, and Ole Miss and Tennessee had seven each.

Thomas, who was an All-SEC Second Team selection last year, has registered 23 total tackles, including a team-high 6.5 sacks as well as 9.5 tackles for loss, in his nine games this season. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., product has also forced two fumbles and returned one fumble 71 yards for a touchdown at Tennessee. It was the longest fumble return in program history. Thomas was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week on Sept. 22 after recording four tackles, including 2.0 sacks and a safety, in the second half of OU's win over Auburn.

The SEC individual award winners will be released Wednesday and the All-Freshman Team will be announced Thursday.

Tate Sandell | First Team | Placekicker

Sandell, one of three Lou Groza Award finalists and a three-time SEC Special Teams Player of the Week, is 23 of 24 on field goal tries this season and has made each of his last 23, setting a school and single-season SEC record. The Port Neches, Texas, product is 7 for 7 on field goals of 50-plus yards and 10 for 10 on field goals of 45-plus yards, and his four makes of 55-plus yards are a school career record. His 96% field goal rate leads the SEC and ranks second nationally, and he has made all 32 of his PAT attempts this season.

Grayson Miller | First Team | Punter

Miller, who is from Edmond, Okla., and in his first year at OU after transferring from Division II Central Oklahoma, ranks 12th nationally and leads the SEC by averaging 46.2 yards per punt. A two-time SEC Special Teams Player of the Week, he has served as OU's punter since the second game of the season. He has booted a single-season school-record 23 punts of 50-plus yards, with a long of 66, and has had 24 downed inside the 20-yard line with only six touchbacks.

Isaiah Sategna III | First Team | Wide Receiver/All-Purpose

Sategna, an Austin, Texas, product, has started all 12 games and leads the team and is tied for second in the SEC in receiving yards (948), receiving yards per game (79.0) and receiving touchdowns (seven). His 65 receptions and 14.6 yards per catch also lead the team. He has returned 23 punts for 301 yards and ranks 10th nationally with his 13.1 yards per punt return. He also has 24 yards on four rushes, and his 1,273 all-purpose yards and 106.1 all-purpose yards per game lead the team and rank sixth in the conference.

Febechi Nwaiwu | Second Team | Offensive Line

Nwaiwu, who was one of three finalists for the Burlsworth Trophy, has started all 12 games this season (11 at right guard and one at center). He is part of an offensive line that has paved the way for OU to average 123.8 rushing yards and 353.7 total yards per game and ranks first nationally by converting all of its red zone opportunities into points (32 for 32). The Coppell, Texas, product has allowed only two pressures and no sacks or quarterback hits on 442 pass-blocking snaps this season and has recorded 23 knockdowns on rushing plays. In Oklahoma's game against LSU on Nov. 29, Nwaiwu played center (every snap) for the first time in his collegiate career and logged the second-highest grade by an OU offensive lineman all season.

Ben Anderson | Second Team | Long Snapper

Anderson, who was a third-team All-SEC selection in 2024 and a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award this season, has served as the long snapper on all of Oklahoma's punts and placekicks the last three years. A Charlotte, N.C., product, he has been the catalyst this season for a placekicking unit that has converted all 32 PAT attempts and 23 of 25 field goals (92%), and ranks 12th nationally and second in the SEC in punting average (46.1 yards per punt). No OU placekicks or punts have been blocked this season.

Peyton Bowen | Second Team | Defensive Back

Peyton Bowen, who is from Corinth, Texas, has started all 12 games at safety, leads the team with his seven pass breakups and is tied for the team lead with two interceptions. He also ranks sixth on the squad with his 44 total tackles, including one for loss. He blocked a field goal against Missouri and recorded pass breakups on fourth-down plays against Alabama and LSU on those teams' final offensive plays of the game. His interceptions came at Tennessee (returned for 37 yards in the second quarter) and against LSU (in the end zone following an OU first-quarter turnover).

Taylor Wein | Second Team | Defensive Line

Wein has played in all 12 games and made seven starts, and has totaled a team-high 14.0 tackles for loss (fourth most in SEC). The Brentwood, Tenn., product also ranks second on the team with his 6.0 sacks among his 37 total tackles, and has recorded an interception, six QB hurries and a pass breakup. He blocked a second-quarter field goal attempt and had a strip-sack in the fourth quarter of OU's win at Alabama in November. He had recorded just two total tackles prior to this season.

Jaren Kanak | Third Team | Tight End

Kanak, playing his first season at tight end after spending his first three seasons at linebacker, has started all 12 games in 2025. From Hays, Kan., he ranks third on the team in receptions (40) and receiving yards (511) and has averaged 12.8 yards per catch. His 511 receiving yards rank as the 12th most nationally among tight ends and are 56 more than the combined receiving yards amassed by OU tight ends last season (455).

Eli Bowen | Third Team | Defensive Back

Eli Bowen, also from Corinth, Texas, has started each of the last eight games after missing the first four due to injury, and has totaled 19 tackles, two interceptions and three pass breakups. He returned one interception 87 yards for a touchdown against Alabama and had another pick the following game against Missouri. His 100 interception return yards lead the SEC and are tied for 13th nationally.

Oklahoma has boasted at least one all-conference player every season since 1926 (98 years). OU has only had one season when playing in a conference without first-team honors (1925), marking 109 of 110 seasons.

The No. 8 Sooners (10-2, 6-2 SEC) will host No. 9 Alabama (10-3, 7-1 SEC) in the College Football Playoff First Round on Friday, Dec. 19, at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on ABC and ESPN.
