NORMAN – The No. 20 Oklahoma wrestling team continues its dual slate on the road this weekend with matchups against No. 12 Rutgers and Rider. The Sooners face their third Big Ten opponent of the season on Saturday (Dec. 13) at 7 p.m. CT at Jersey Mike's Arena, followed by a Sunday (Dec. 14) dual against the Broncos at 12 p.m. CT at Alumni Gym. Saturday's contest will air on the Big Ten Network, while Sunday's dual will stream on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT

Oklahoma isĀ coming off a strong showing at the 44th Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, where redshirt sophomore Carter Schubert claimed the 174-pound title and three additional Sooners earned podium finishes. Schubert became OU's first CKLV champion since 2013. Tyler Wells (141) placed fifth, Brian Soldano (184) finished third, and DJ Parker (197) took fourth to round out the Sooner contingent on the podium.

As a team, the Sooners totaled 80.5 points to finish sixth – the program's highest placement at the event since 2015. Schubert was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for his tournament run, becoming OU's second honoree of the season after Parker (Nov. 26). Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are the only Big 12 programs with multiple weekly award winners this season.

SERIES HISTORIES

Rutgers

In a series that dates back to 1959, Oklahoma is 7-2 all-time against Rutgers. Saturday's dual will mark the 26th meeting between the two programs. The Sooners last faced the Scarlet Knights on Nov. 11, 2017, at the Journeymen Northeast Duals in Clifton Park, N.Y., falling 22-9

Rider

Oklahoma holds a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series against Rider, with the most recent matchup coming in 2023, when the Sooners claimed a 24-10 win on Senior Day at McCasland Field House.Ā Ā

SOONERS IN THE RANKINGS

Oklahoma enters its road tripĀ ranked No. 20 nationally by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). The Sooners, ranked in the NWCA preseason top 25 for the third consecutive year, earned their highest starting position since 2021.

Eight Sooners appeared in the latest individual rankings (Dec. 9) from InterMat, FloWrestling and Open Mat: Conrad Hendriksen (125), Tyler Wells (141), Rafael Hipolito Jr. (157), Peyten Kellar (165), Carter Schubert (174), Brian Soldano (184), DJ Parker (197) and Juan Mora (285).

SOONERS IN PRIMETIME

Saturday's dual against No. 12 Rutgers will air on the Big Ten Network and mark Oklahoma's second nationally televised dual of the season on the network. The Sooners' season opener at No. 1 Penn State (Nov. 14) was their first nationally televised appearance since hosting Oklahoma State on ESPNU on Dec. 12, 2021.Ā

RUNNING THE GAUNTLET

Oklahoma has positioned itself to face one of the nation's toughest schedules in 2025-26. Beyond its season-opening road contest at No. 1 and four-time defending national champion Penn State, the Sooners have eight duals scheduled against teams currently ranked in the NWCA Coaches' Top 25 – five of which will take place on the road. In total, OU will face three top-five opponents, five ranked inside the top 15 and eight in the top 25. The Sooners also competed at the prestigious Cliff Keen Invitational, widely regarded as the premier regular-season tournament in college wrestling.
