OU’s 2026 SEC Football Schedule Announced

December 11, 2025 | Football

NORMAN — The Southeastern Conference announced its 2026 football schedule Thursday evening, completing Oklahoma's 12-game 2026 regular season football slate.

The Sooners will play six games at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium next fall — two non-conference contests and four against SEC opponents — as well as five true road games and the annual Red River Rivalry clash against Texas at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas.

OU's nine conference opponents for 2026 were announced in September. They are Ole Miss, Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas A&M, which all come to Norman, Missouri, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi State, which the Sooners will face on the road, and Texas. Five of OU's 12 opponents for the 2026 season, including four SEC foes, are in the top 18 of the final 2025 College Football Playoff ranking.

OU's three non-conference games will be Sept. 5 vs. UTEP, Sept. 12 at Michigan and Sept. 19 vs. New Mexico.

For the first time in its three seasons in the SEC, Oklahoma will open conference play on the road. The Sooners will play at Georgia on Sept. 26 in only the second meeting between the programs (first on a college campus).

Following an Oct. 3 open date, OU will travel to Dallas to meet Texas on Oct. 10 at the State Fair of Texas. OU, which will be the designated home team in the matchup, has won 11 of its last 17 meetings against the Longhorns and is 30-23-3 in the series since 1970.

Oklahoma will alternate home and road games the next five weeks, starting with an Oct. 17 outing against Kentucky in Norman that will mark the Wildcats' second visit to Owen Field and first since 1980. OU travels to Starkville, Miss., to face Mississippi State on Oct. 24 for the first-ever meeting between the schools in football before returning home to host South Carolina on Oct. 31. The Sooners defeated the Gamecocks 26-7 in Columbia in October.

Oklahoma begins the month of November at Florida on Nov. 7 in the first regular season matchup between the programs. The Sooners defeated the Gators 55-20 in the 2020 Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium in the schools' last meeting. For the second straight year, Ole Miss will visit Norman, this time on Nov. 14.

OU closes the regular season with a home game against Texas A&M on Nov. 21 and a contest at Missouri on Nov. 28. In their last conference meeting in 2011, the Sooners defeated the Aggies 41-25 in Norman. Oklahoma beat Missouri 17-6 in Norman last month.

The SEC announced in August it would play a nine-game conference schedule starting with the 2026 season. In addition to the conference opponents, SEC teams are required to schedule at least one additional high quality non-conference opponent from the ACC, Big Ten or Big 12 conferences or Notre Dame each season.

Under the new format:

• The SEC will continue with a single-standings, non-divisional structure;
• Each school will play three annual opponents focused on maintaining many traditional rivalries;
• Each team's remaining six games will rotate among the remaining conference schools; and
• Each team will face every other SEC program at least once every two years and every opponent home and away in four years.

The top two teams in the league standings based on winning percentage will play in the 35th SEC Football Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday, Dec. 5.
