Moldauer Sixth, Benas Eighth after Day One of Olympic Trials

MINNEAPOLIS — University of Oklahoma gymnastics rising redshirt junior Fuzzy Benas hit all six of his routines and sits in eighth place while alumnus Yul Moldauer is in sixth after the first day of U.S. Olympic Team Trails – Gymnastics at the Target Center.
Benas registered 83.100 in the all-around on Thursday and notched the third-highest score on horizontal bar on the first day, posting a 13.650. He also scored 14.450 on parallel bars (eighth), 14.150 on vault, 13.450 on pommel horse (sixth), 13.950 on floor exercise (seventh) and 13.450 on still rings (12th).
Moldauer totaled 83.700 in the all-around, tying for the fifth-highest overall score on Thursday. He scored a huge 15.150 on parallel bars and sits second on the event. He notched 14.500 on vault, 14.200 on floor exercise (fifth), 13.850 on rings (sixth), 13.100 on pommel horse (13th) and 12.900 on high bar (13th).
Olympic Team Trials continues on Saturday at 2 p.m. with television coverage provided by NBC and Peacock. Live results will be available here.
The men's Olympic team will be announced following Saturday's competition. The team is not necessarily chosen by final placement at Olympic Trials, but the five team members are selected by highest scoring potential at the Olympic Games.
