NORMAN — After kickoff times for four 2024 University of Oklahoma football games were announced this spring, ESPN released television start time windows for the rest of OU's Southeastern Conference contests Tuesday.
The Sooners also announced their Nov. 2 non-conference home game versus Maine will kick off at 1:30 p.m. CT and air on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.
"The Maine game time was ours to set, and in a move to pay homage to the 100th season of Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium we thought it would be fun to kick off at 1:30 since that was the prevailing start time for our home games from 1962 to 1995," explained OU Vice President and Athletics Director Joe Castiglione. "We think it fits perfectly within the framework of our season-long stadium celebration and are excited to kick off at 1:30 once again. An afternoon start also made sense to us with it being a November game and temperatures starting to dip."
Designating windows for all games after Week 3 prior to the start of the season is a fan benefit of the new conference rights agreement between the SEC and ESPN that begins this fall. This year marks the first time all SEC league games will air exclusively on ABC and ESPN platforms.
All SEC-controlled games starting with Week 4 (Sept. 21) will have set television windows, with select contests tagged as 'Flex' games kicking off in either the 'Afternoon' or 'Night' windows.
Television start time windows for Weeks 4-14 are defined as follows:
•
Early: 11 a.m. to noon CT start
•
Afternoon: 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. CT start
•
Night: 5 to 7 p.m. CT start
•
Flex: Games flexed between the Afternoon (2:30-3:30 p.m.) and Night (5-7 p.m.) windows
Of OU's three 2024 home games against SEC opponents, only the one against South Carolina on Oct. 19 is designated as an 'Early' (11-noon CT) start. The Sept. 21 and Nov. 23 respective contests against Tennessee and Alabama are 'Flex' games and will begin between 2:30-3:30 CT or 5-7 CT.
The Sooners' Sept. 28 game at Auburn will be an 'Afternoon' start while the Oct. 26 outing at Ole Miss will be an 'Early' start. The Nov. 9 and Nov. 30 contests at Missouri and LSU are categorized as 'Flex' games.
Exact start times with the assigned windows (Early, Afternoon, Night, Flex) and network designations will be determined during the season. Fans and viewers looking for more information can visit

It was announced in late May that the Allstate Red River Rivalry against Texas on Oct. 12 in Dallas will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT and air on ABC or ESPN. Only one time in the previous 13 seasons has the OU-Texas game not kicked off at 11 a.m. CT. That was a 2:30 start in 2017, a 29-24 OU victory.
Of OU's 12 regular season games this season, only two will be 'Early' (11-noon CT) starts, and only one at home. The other 10 will be 'Afternoon' or 'Night' contests, including the Aug. 30 opener against Temple at home (6 p.m. CT) and the Sept. 7 home game versus Houston (6:45 p.m. CT).
SEC Now: Inside the 2024 Schedule premieres at 1 p.m. CT on Tuesday, June 11, to break down the full SEC schedule. Following
The Paul Finebaum Show, the show will re-air at 6 p.m. CT.
