NORMAN – Oklahoma women's golf won The Match Play at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, defeating Tulsa 3-1-1 in the championship match and winning its first tournament title since the 2018 Clover Cup.

The Sooners advanced to the championship match with a 2-1-2 victory over Texas Tech in the semifinals. Junior Reagan Chaney beat Cameron Freund 4&2 and sophomore Savannah Barber claimed the 3&2 victory over Klara Hurtova. Sophomore Gracie Mayo and senior Nina Lang tied Lauren Zaretsky and Kylee Loewe, respectively. Sophomore Isabelle Schlick dropped her match, falling to Gala Domez by a single hole.

"I'm proud of our player's tireless work to get the tournament victory," said Oklahoma head women's golf coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "The win validates their belief in our system. This is a huge team effort that includes our coaches and support staff who help our players every day."

In the finals, Lang dominated her match against Tulsa's Jenni Roller, earning the 4&3 victory. She opened a commanding lead and held a four-hole advantage through seven. Roller battled back, winning the eighth and 10th holes. Lang claimed the 12th and 14th holes before ending the match with an even finish on the 15th.

Mayo recorded a 1-up victory over Lovisa Gunnar and Barber secured the match with a 2&1 win over Sydney Seigel.

Through 11 holes, Barber and Siegel were all square. The Fort Worth, Texas product won the 12th hole and improved to 2-up with a victory on the 14th. Seigel narrowed the deficit to one with a win on the 15th hole before Barber drained a long putt attempt on the 17th, earning the 2&1 victory and team title for the Sooners.

"We've been close with multiple runner-up finishes this season and it feels amazing to win a tournament," said Drouin-Luttrell. "Postseason is on the horizon, and we hope that this victory gave us the confidence needed to play at this level."

Schlick and Grace Kilcrease needed all 18 holes and finished the contest tied. Despite being down two on the 14th hole, Schlick won the 15th and 16th, moving the match back to even. The two went shot-for-shot on the final two holes.

Tulsa's Allyn Stephens claimed the lone Golden Hurricane victory, earning the 2&1 victory over Chaney.
