NORMAN – Oklahoma Softball sophomore left-handed pitcher
Kierston Deal has been named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Deal allowed just one earned run across 7.2 innings over her two appearances, working to a 0.91 ERA on the week. She struck out five and walked just one, scattering four hits and limiting her opponents to a .138 batting average. The lefty opened her weekend by throwing a complete-game gem on Saturday, April 27, allowing a lone unearned run across 7.0 innings of two-hit softball to earn the win. Deal closed out Sunday's finale, recording the final two outs of the game.
The OU sophomore is Oklahoma's first hurler to earn consecutive league pitcher-of-the-week honors since
Giselle Juarez claimed the nod in four-straight weeks April 16-May 7, 2019.
OU returns home to host Oklahoma State this weekend for its final Big 12 regular-season series. Bedlam presented by Phillips 66 begins Friday, May 3 at Love's Field with a 6:30 p.m. CT first pitch on FS1.
