Sooners Host Cincinnati on Tuesday

NORMAN – -/RV Oklahoma men's basketball hosts Cincinnati on Tuesday, March 5. Tip is at 7:01 p.m. CT inside Lloyd Noble Center. The Big 12 conference contest will air on the Sooner Sports Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing and be broadcast by ESPN+ with Mark Neely (PxP) and Fran Fraschilla (analyst) on the call.

FOR THE FANS

• University of Oklahoma students can attend all 2023-24 men's basketball games for free. Students need to show their ID at the lower north entrance at Lloyd Noble Center.

• Fans can take advantage of select concessions specials for $2 (small popcorn, 12 oz beer or 16 oz soda).

OPENING TIP

• Oklahoma is ranked 41st (games through 3/3) overall and eighth in the Big 12 in the NET. Ten Big 12 teams are in the top 45. Cincinnati is 45th overall and 10th in the conference.

•  Junior Javian McCollum ranks sixth among active career leaders in free throw percentage (90.1%). In 80 career games, McCollum has made 219 free throws in 243 attempts. Senior Sam Godwin is 12th among NCAA DI active career leaders in field goal percentage, making 63.4% (262-413) of his shots.

•  McCollum needs 15 points to reach 1,000 NCAA DI career points. The Fort Myers, Fla., product scored 590 points in two seasons at Siena and tallied 395 points this season.

•   Senior Jalon Moore recorded his third double-double of the season against No. 1/1 Houston, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Godwin finished 6 for 6 from the field and matched his career high with 17 points.

LAST TIME OUT

•  No. 1/1 Houston's Jamal Shead hit a jumper with less than one second left in regulation, and RV/RV Oklahoma fell to the Cougars 87-85 on Saturday night at Lloyd Noble Center. Down 85-80 with 1:29 left, Oklahoma scored five points on a layup by sophomore Milos Uzan, a made free throw by senior Sam Godwin and a layup by junior Javian McCollum. The Sooners forced a missed shot on Houston's next trip down the court before UH's Jamal Shead grabbed the loose ball and put in the game-winner.

•  Five Sooners finished in double figures after zero reached the double-digit plateau against Iowa State. Godwin recorded a team-high 17 points on 6-for-6 shooting and added seven rebounds. Junior Jalon Moore tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds, recording his third double-double in the Crimson and Cream. Senior Le'Tre Darthard finished 5 for 7 from deep and added 15 points.

•   In his second start at Oklahoma, senior Rivlado Soares finished with 16 points on 5-for-7 shooting. McCollum dished out a team-high eight assists and added 12 points and two rebounds.

OKLAHOMA vs. CINCINNATI | LAST MEETING

• Oklahoma earned its first road victory of the season at Cincinnati on Jan. 20, beating the Bearcats 69-65. Junior Javian McCollum recorded a team-high 16 points and sophomore Otega Oweh added 14. Redshirt junior John Hugley IV tallied 11 points and junior Jalon Moore finished with a team-best 10 rebounds and nine points.

• Oweh's Dunk with two minutes left gave the Sooners a 65-58 lead before the Bearcats scored four points. After UC's Simas Lukosius hit a pair of free throws, senior Rivaldo Soares was fouled on the next possession, sealing the victory for the Sooners at the charity stripe. OU shot 40.7% (24-59) from the field and finished 88.9% (16-18) from the line. Oklahoma's bench combined for 28 points in the victory.

CHASING RECORDS

• Junior Javian McCollum has made 94.3% (82-87) of his free throw attempts this season, ranking first ahead of Hollis Price's 92.9% set in 2003. Senior Sam Godwin has made 60.7% (68-112) of his shots, ranking sixth in program history for a single season.

• After missing his first free throw attempt at Kansas State (Jan. 30) with 5:39 left in the first half, McCollum buried his next nine tries and finished 9 for 10 from the charity stripe. The Fort Myers, Fla., product has rattled off 39 consecutive free throws over a nine-game stretch, eclipsing the previous program record for most consecutive free throws made by Nate Carter (37 in 2007). Carter topped the previous record of 36 set by Hollis Price during the 2002-03 season. Colorado's Corey Higgins set the Big 12 record (45) during the 2008-09 campaign.

SENIOR DAY

•  Oklahoma will recognize seniors Le'Tre Darthard, Sam Godwin, Maks Klanjscek and Rivlado Soares before its game against Cincinnati. Darthard, Klanjscek and Soares have donned the Crimson and Cream for one season.

•  Godwin played two seasons at OU and appeared in 60 games with 28 starts, including 28 starts in 2023-24. Over his four-year career, the Ada, Okla., product has made 45 starts in 112 career games and averaged 6.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per outing. Godwin started his career at Wofford.

•  Darthard has appeared in 29 games (one start) this season, averaging 6.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per contest. Darthard played three seasons at Utah Valley before joining the Sooners, appearing in 116 NCAA DI contests with 70 starts. The Denton, Texas, product holds career averages of 9.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists. Darthard played one season at McCook Community College.

•  Soares has appeared in 28 games this season with two starts. The Boston, Mass. product, averaged 8.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per outing. Before joining the Sooners, Soares played two seasons at Oregon and has appeared in 99 career NCAA DI games (37) starts, averaging 6.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He played two seasons at South Plains College before transferring to Oregon.

•  Klanjscek has appeared in 95 career NCAA DI games with 54 starts and played in 10 games this season. Klanjscek holds career averages of 8.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per outing. The Ljubljana, Slovenia product has played at Houston Christian (2022-23), Maine (2021-22), Salt Lake Community College (2020-21) and Kansas City (2019-20).
