STANFORD, Calif. – Junior
Emre Dodanli won the floor exercise title and sophomore
Ignacio Yockers won the pommel horse title to lead the Oklahoma men's gymnastics team in its tri-meet at Stanford Saturday at Burnham Pavilion. The top-ranked Sooners placed second at the meet, scoring a 410.500, behind No. 2 Stanford's 421.150 and ahead of No. 8 California's 404.950.
Dodanli topped the floor exercise standings with a 15.000, his third score of 15 or better on floor exercise this season. It was Dodanli's 11th event title in his seven meets this season. Yockers claimed the pommel horse crown with a 14.800.
Oklahoma started the meet on still rings and tied its season high score on the event by posting a 67.900. The Sooners notched a 69.450 on floor exercise, 69.150 on pommel horse, 64.300 on horizontal bar, 72.250 on vault and 67.350 on parallel bars. OU's 410.500 was its second-highest road score of the season, second only to its 420.350 at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 20.
Freshman
Max Bereznev opened the meet with a rings career-high 13.800 and junior Matt Burgoyne followed by tying his career high with a 13.650. Freshman
Tas Hajdu led the Sooners on the event with a 13.900.
Dodanli anchored the floor exercise rotation with his 15.000, which was his third-highest floor score of the season. He is the only gymnast nationally to post even one 15-plus score on floor exercise this season. Junior
Brigham Frentheway notched his second-highest floor score this year with a 14.050.
Senior
Zach Nunez placed third on pommel horse with a 14.400 and Yockers hit his 14.800 to close out the pommel horse rotation. Junior
Cailen Walker posted a 13.250 in his first competition since Feb. 3. Fifth-year senior
Jack Freeman led OU on high bar with a 13.600 to tie for third on the event. The Sooners had two falls on high bar, resulting in the 64.300 team score.
For the sixth time in nine meets this season, all five Sooners scored 14.000 or better on vault. Flores led off with a 14.200, redshirt freshman
Leo Koike followed with a 14.400, Frentheway scored a 14.350 and Bereznev anchored with a 14.500. Dodanli stuck a 14.800 in the fourth position to place second on the event.
Flores started the final rotation with a p-bars career-high 14.050. Nunez followed with a 13.450, his third-highest score of the season, and Yockers tied his second-highest p-bars score with a 13.650.
OU tallied seven sticks in the meet and notched nine routines with an execution score of 9.0 or better.
The Sooners concluded the regular season on Saturday and now set their focus on the MPSF Championship, which will be held April 6 at McCasland Field House in Norman. The meet, featuring Oklahoma, Air Force, California and Stanford, is set for a 2 p.m. start. Tickets are priced at $10 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors, and can be purchased at
