Sooners Wrap Up MountainView Collegiate Opening Round

TUCSON, Ariz. – Oklahoma women's golf wrapped up the first round of the MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve Golf Club on Friday evening, finishing 10-over 298 and 11th in the 15-team field.

Junior Reagan Chaney led OU with a 1-over 73 and tied for 23rd. Sophomores Isabelle Schlick and Savannah Barber each tallied a 2-over 74 and tied for 29th. Senior Kaylee Vesely and sophomore Gracie Mayo tied for 61st (5-over 77) and 67th (6-over 78), respectively.

Chaney tallied two birdies on the fourth and sixth holes, finishing the front nine 2-under 34. She recorded three bogeys on the back nine.

Barber suffered a one-stroke setback on the sixth and moved to even with a birdie on the ninth. After two bogeys on the 10th and 12th, she recorded her second birdie on the 13th. The Fort Worth, Texas product tallied a bogey on the 16th, finishing her final nine holes 2-over 38.

Schlick opened the tournament with a birdie and tallied her second on the fourth hole, finishing the front nine 2-under 34 and matching Chaney for the best front nine by a Sooner. The Bad Homburg, Germany, product dropped four strokes on the back nine, recording a double bogey on the 12th and bogeys on the 15th and 18th holes.

Mayo tallied a birdie on the second hole and moved to even after a bogey on the third. She responded with her second and final birdie of the round on the fourth. After a bogey on the ninth, she finished the front nine even par 36. Mayo tallied two double bogeys on the 10th and 15 holes and bogeys on the 11th and 17th, finishing the back nine 6-over 78.

Vesely opened the round with a bogey and moved to even with the first of her two birdies on the second hole. She finished the front nine 4-over 40 and rattled off three consecutive pars to open the back nine before a birdie on the 13th. Vesely tallied bogeys on the 16th and 18th holes, wrapping up the back nine 1-over 37.
