Sooners Claim Road Win Against Middle Tennessee

NORMAN - The No. 21 Oklahoma men's tennis team picked up a win on the road against Middle Tennessee Friday evening.

The Sooners picked up the doubles point against the Blue Raiders to take an early lead. After fifth-year seniors Alex Martinez and Baptiste Anselmo took a win on court one, freshman pair Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki sealed the win in a tiebreak at the three position to clinch the doubles point.

Junior Jordan Hasson and fifth-year senior Justin Schlageter were the only Sooners to take first-set wins. Both Hasson and Schlageter won their matches, 6-4, 6-4, to give the Sooners a 3-0 lead.

Fifth-year senior Mark Mandlik was next off the court after dropping his match in the third set. Following the wins from Hasson and Schlageter, No. 54 Martinez was in position to clinch the dual for the Sooners. Martinez was matched up against No. 29 Leo Raquin at the one line and won the match, 3-6, 6-0, 7-5. The win extends Martinez's win streak against ranked opponents to 4 matches.

When play was halted, freshman Kholo Montsi had just split sets with No. 114 Marcel Kamrowski and was headed to a third set. Sophomore Luis Alvarez had the lead in the third set on his court, 2-6, 6-3, 6-5.

The Sooners are set to travel to Lubbock, Texas to kick off Big 12 conference play against Texas Tech on Thursday, March 21 at 6 p.m.
