NORMAN  No. 24 Oklahoma (15-6, 9-1 Big 12) looks to hold on to sole possession of first place in the Big 12 standings on Wednesday night when TCU comes to Norman for a conference contest. The Sooners (15-6, 9-1 Big 12) have won six in a row and returned to the AP Top 25 on Monday, while TCU (15-6, 2-8 Big 12) have been shorthanded and have dropped eight of their last nine games.

Tip is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+ and tickets are available for as little as $5 as Oklahoma celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day at the game. Fans can also enjoy $2 popcorn, 16oz soft drinks and 12oz beers.

Doors to the arena open one hour before tip and the Lloyd Noble Center's clear-bag policy is in effect.

THE STARTING FIVE

  • Oklahoma is back in the polls after a two-month hiatus as OU reappeared at No. 24 in this week's AP Top 25 poll. OU is receiving votes in the WBCA Coaches Poll and is a No. 9 seed in the latest ESPN Bracketology.

  • The Sooners were tabbed as ESPN's National Team of the Week on Monday after knocking off then-No. 2 K-State and in-state rival Oklahoma State. OU has been one of the hottest teams in the nation over the last month.

  • Oklahoma has consistently performed well in tight conference games, securing five consecutive victories decided by single-digit margins for the first time in program history. Since third-year head coach Jennie Baranczyk arrived in Norman, OU is 24-6 in games decided by single digits and is an incredible 10-1 in single-possession results (1-0 in 23-24).

  • OU has been the among best in the Big 12 in conference play when it comes to sharing the ball and limiting turnovers. In conference games, Oklahoma leads the league in assists per game (20.2) and turnovers per game (12.4).

  • Skylar Vann has cemented herself into the conversation for Big 12 Player of the Year. She has posted 14 straight games of double-digit points (10 straight in Big 12 play) and has scored 20 points or more in five of her last six games. On the season, she is the only player in the league to average 15.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 2.0 APG and 1.0 SPG.

SERIES HISTORY

Wednesday night marks the 40th meeting, and potentially last as Big 12 foes, between Oklahoma and TCU. OU holds a lopsided 28-11 all-time series lead, including a dominant 16-3 mark in Norman where the Sooners haven't dropped a game to the Frogs since Baranczyk became head coach.

OU's active five-game winning streak over TCU is tied for the program's fourth longest. The Sooners' winning percentage of .718 over TCU is fifth-highest vs. any opponent in program history.

LAST TIME OUT

Oklahoma trailed most of the game, but an overpowering second half guided the Sooners past Oklahoma State, 81-74, in Stillwater on Saturday afternoon.

The win pushed Oklahoma (15-6, 9-1 Big 12) into a tie atop the Big 12 standings with No. 2 Kansas State, and third-year head coach Jennie Baranczyk is now 5-0 vs. the Cowgirls (11-11, 4-7 Big 12).

UP NEXT

The Sooners make their final trip to Ames, Iowa, as members of the Big 12 this weekend to take on the Cyclones on Saturday night at 6 p.m.

ISU has won four of the last six and OU hasn't won in Ames since 2017. The Sooners are 13-19 all-time vs. Hilton Magic.
