October 20, 2024 | Men's Golf
NORMAN — The top-ranked Oklahoma men's golf team is set for its return to the course this week as the Sooners play in the Stephens Cup, a three-day, nationally-televised event at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. OU tees off Monday in the six-team tournament, which features 54 holes of stroke play before a championship, third-place and fifth-place match are played on Wednesday.
In their most recent outing, the Sooners finished off a wire-to-wire win at the Ben Hogan Collegiate at Colonial Country Club, winning the team's second straight tournament and defeating 12 top-25 teams in the process. Oklahoma finished as the only team under-par as Drew Goodman finished third and three other Sooners grabbed top-15 placements.
The Stephens Cup features No. 1 Oklahoma, and welcomes in-state rival No. 14 Oklahoma State, along with No. 20 SMU, San Diego State, Florida State and Arkansas.
Head coach Ryan Hybl will play the same lineup for the third event in a row. Goodman, ranked ninth in the country, is joined by No. 29 Jase Summy, No. 54 Ryder Cowan, No. 52 PJ Maybank III and No. 53 Matthew Troutman on the OU lineup card. Oklahoma is the only team in the country with five players ranked inside the top 55 nationally in the latest Clippd rankings.
Live scoring will be available on Clippd, and Golf Channel will carry the action live from 4-7 p.m. CT on Monday and 3-6 p.m. CT on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The event is ticketed with tickets on sale beginning at $25.
