NORMAN – Junior Jordan Bowers and freshman Hannah Scheible were named the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week and Event Specialist of the week, respectively, the conference announced Tuesday. This is the second weekly honor for Scheible and the 12th career honor for Bowers

Bowers and Scheible were instrumental in leading the Sooners to their first 198-plus score of the season with a 198.325 at the Denver Quad, featuring Denver, UCLA and Stanford. All five scores earned by the pair counted in OU's victory. The pair shared the event title on vault with matching scores of 9.95 and Bowers won the all-around, floor and bars titles as well. Ā

The duo helped lead the Sooners to season highs on both vault and beam. With matching 9.95s on vault, the pair led OU to a 49.600 on the event, the only school to go 49.6-plus on vault this season. On beam, Bowers 9.925 led the Sooners to the fourth-highest score in program history with a 49.725.

Bowers had a career day, setting a new career best with a 39.775 in the all-around. Her score ranks third in the nation this season. The junior went 9.925 or better on all four events with 9.95s on vault, bars and floor and a 9.925 on beam. Bowers had the highest all-around score of any Big 12 athlete this season and is the first to break the 39.700 mark in 2024.

Scheible nailed her vault for a career best 9.95 and is the only Sooner to score a 9.9 or better on vault in every meet this season. She currently ranks fourth in the nation with a 9.925 average and is the highest ranked Big 12 athlete on the event and highest ranked freshman.

The Sooners are back in action Friday night for the home opener inside Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners will have a rematch against Denver at 6:45 p.m. CT. Tickets can be purchased here.
