NORMAN – Sophomore Savannah Barber fired a 1-under 69 and Oklahoma women's golf tied for eighth (7-over, 847) at the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club on Monday.
Barber finished even par 210 over the three-day tournament and tied for 17th. The Fort Worth, Texas product recorded rounds of 70-71-69, tallying team-best rounds on Saturday and Monday.
Barber opened the final round with a bogey and moved back to even with a birdie on the second hole. After six-consecutive pars, Barber recorded a birdie on the ninth, concluding the front nine 1-under 35. She briefly moved to 2-under with her third birdie on the 12th hole, but a one-stroke setback on the next hole moved her to 1-under through 13. Barber wrapped up her round with five pars.
Sophomore Isabelle Schlick and freshman Holly McLean each finished 1-over 71 on Monday and wrapped up the tournament tied for 29th (3-over 213).
Schlick opened he final round with a bogey on the first hole and responded with her first birdie on the second. She moved to 2-over through six after a trio of bogeys and capped the front nine with a birdie on the ninth, recording a 2-over 38. Schlick put together a clean scorecard on the back nine and recorded a birdie on the 14th.
McLean started her round with a birdie on the second hole. The Grand Cayman product dropped a pair of strokes on the sixth, moving to 1-over through four. McLean wrapped up the front nine with five straight pars, finishing her first nine 1-over 37. She opened the back nine with two birdies in her first four holes. McLean tallied bogeys on the 16th and 18th, concluding her first tournament in the Crimson and Cream.
Senior Nina Lang recorded a 4-over 74 in the third round and concluded the tournament tied for 67th (13-over, 223). After opening the round 4-over 40 through the front nine, Lang tallied back-to-back birdies on the 10th and 11th. She dropped a pair of strokes with consecutive bogeys on the 12th and 13th before ending the tournament with five pars.
Junior Reagan Chaney rounded out the OU lineup with a 7-over 77, recording three birdies. She finished 5-over 215 and tied for 43rd.
Sophomore Gracie Mayo and senior Kaylee Vesely competed as individuals. Mayo recorded a 5-over 75 in the third round and tied for 43rd (5-over, 215). Vesely finished 82nd (26-over, 236).
