Trautman Named Student Assistant Coach

NORMAN – Former Oklahoma women's gymnast and 2023 NCAA Vault National Champion Olivia Trautman has been named the program's student assistant coach, head coach K.J. Kindler announced Thursday.
"Olivia will continue to enhance our environment with her enthusiasm for the sport and her connection to our team," Kindler said. "She is all in, all the time and she has expressed the interest to follow her passion: coaching. She follows in the footsteps of many other OU student coaches who have gone on to become NCAA assistant and head coaches."
Trautman was a member of OU's 2019, 2022 and 2023 NCAA National Championship teams. The Champlin, Minn., native was the 2019 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, a 10-time NCAA All-American, four-time Big 12 individual champion and a four-time Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection.
"Achieving the dream of winning a national championship with my team is a moment I will never forget as an athlete," Trautman said. "Now switching roles to the coaching side, I am so excited to be working with the best staff in the nation to continue making an impact on the program that provided me with so many amazing opportunities. I am so thankful and excited for what's to come."
Trautman's perseverance and resilience was a force to be reckoned with as she fought through multiple injuries in her five-year career to become one of the most decorated gymnasts in program history. She is only the seventh Sooner to win an individual national championship and ranks second with five career perfect 10s. She was a three-time NCAA Regional Champion and a two-time WCGA All-American.
