Sooners Wrap Up Carmel Cup Second Round, Barber Fifth

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Sophomore Savannah Barber fired a 2-under 70 and is one of 11 golfers to record back-to-back rounds under par at the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links on Saturday. Oklahoma women's golf is in eighth (+37, 757) after the first 36 holes.
Barber fired a 4-under 68 to open the tournament and continued her strong start, concluding the first 36 holes 6-under 138.
The Fort Worth, Texas, product dropped a stroke on the first hole and responded with back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh. After a par on the eighth, Barber completed the front nine with a birdie on the ninth.
She opened the back nine with two bogeys in her first three holes and gained back two strokes after consecutive birdies on the 13th and 14th. Barber drained her final birdie of the round on the 16th. After a one-stroke setback on the 17th, she concluded her first 36 holes with a par.
Junior Reagan Chaney fired a 1-over 73, entering the final round tied for 31st. Chaney finished the front nine even, recording a birdie on the fifth. She moved to 1-under after a birdie on the par-5 14th and finished her day with two bogeys in the final three holes.
Sophomore Isabelle Schlick recorded her second consecutive 4-over 76 round and is tied for 37th. Schlick tallied birdies on the second and fifth holes, finishing her first nine holes even. She recorded her final birdie of the round on the 14th.
Senior Nina Lang tallied a 2-over 74, recording a pair of birdies on the seventh and 12th holes.
Sophomores Emily Hun (5-over 77) and Gracie Mayo (6-over 78 ) round out the Sooners in the field.
