Sooners No. 19 in Preseason Coaches Poll

NORMAN — The Oklahoma football team will begin the 2023 season ranked 19th in the USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, which was released Monday. The Sooners are entering their second year under head coach Brent Venables.
 
This marks the 24th consecutive year OU has been ranked in the annual preseason coaches poll. The Sooners have been ranked in the top 20 in each of those years.
 
The Sooners are one of five Big 12 squads in this year's preseason coaches poll. Texas is ranked No. 12, TCU No. 16, Kansas State No. 17 and Texas Tech No. 24. Baylor, Oklahoma State, Houston, BYU and Kansas are among teams receiving votes.
 
The top 10 consists of No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 5 LSU, No. 6 USC, No. 7 Penn State, No. 8 Florida State, No. 9 Clemson and No. 10 Tennessee.
 
OU opens the 2023 season Sept. 2 against Arkansas State at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The Sooners will play six home games, and season tickets are available here.
