NORMAN – University of Oklahoma head volleyball coach Aaron Mansfield announced the promotion of Meredith Teague to technical coordinator and assistant coach Monday. Teague's new role with the Sooners comes after the NCAA Division I Council approved in January legislation that permits an added paid assistant coach position starting July 1.
Teague joined the Sooners in January as technical coordinator and recruiting assistant and has been instrumental in helping OU build its 2023 roster. Prior to arriving in Norman, Teague spent two years on staff at her alma mater, Loyola Marymount, where Mansfield served as head coach.
"We are excited to elevate Meredith to an assistant coaching position," said Mansfield. "Her experience as a player, dedication to being a learner and ability to empathetically connect with those around her have all prepared her to take on this role. She also has a willingness to take on and learn many different tasks, all for the good of the program, and that will continue to serve as a great asset to us as we round out our staff."
Following her playing career, Teague served as interim assistant coach at LMU for the fall 2021 season and transitioned to technical coordinator and director of operations for her final campaign in Los Angeles in 2022.
"I have been fortunate enough to build a staff with high character individuals who I have a tremendous amount of trust in," added Mansfield. "I am excited for Meredith to step into this new role."
Teague was a four-year member of the LMU volleyball program, helping the Lions reach the 2018 NCAA Tournament. During the 2018 campaign, she appeared in 31 matches and made 28 starts, leading the team with 40 aces and ranking fifth with 185 kills.
