First Pitch

• Oklahoma (24-20) travels to Dallas Tuesday to take on Dallas Baptist (34-10) at Horner Ballpark. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
• The Sooners will play seven straight games away from home starting Tuesday night. OU travels to West Virginia this weekend for a three-game Big 12 conference series, and after a midweek break for finals, travels to Spokane, Wash., fMay 12-14, or a three-game non-conference set at Gonzaga. 
• Oklahoma is celebrating its 125th anniversary season in 2023. The program was established in 1898, and OU has competed in 118 seasons since (including 2023).

Series History

• Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Dallas Baptist, 26-16. The Patriots lead the series in Dallas, 6-3.
• OU won 8-7 last season in Norman and the Patriots won 10-1 in Dallas.
• OU was victorious in 21 of the first 23 meetings between the programs (1978-2010). DBU won eight in a row between 2011-15. From 2016-22, OU and DBU won each meeting in their own metro area (tied, 5-5). That streak was stopped earlier this season when the Patriots won 8-6 in Norman on March 21.

• Oklahoma ranks 11th nationally and third in the Big 12 with its 261 walks, and ranks 15th nationally and third in the Big 12 with its 91 stolen bases. OU batters have also been hit by a pitch 56 times, totaling 317 free passes (an average of 7.2 free passes per game).
• The Sooners also rank sixth nationally with their 31 sacrifice flies (second in the Big 12 to 32 by Texas Tech) and 20th nationally with 15 triples (second in Big 12; league leader Texas Tech has 18 triples).
• Junior right fielder Bryce Madron has registered 47 walks in 44 games, a figure that leads the Big 12 and ranks fifth nationally. He also ranks eighth nationally and leads the Big 12 by averaging 1.1 walks per contest. Freshman catcher Easton Carmichael ranks second in the Big 12, tied for 30th nationally and tied for second among catchers with his four triples, despite missing 10 starts with an illness. Junior infielder Anthony Mackenzie ranks 38th nationally and third in the Big 12 with his 21 stolen bases (in 25 attempts). Junior Carter Campbell is fourth nationally and first in the Big 12 with his 27 pitching appearances (national leaders have made 30 appearances). Graduate pitcher Braxton Douthit leads the Big 12 (ranks 20th nationally) by allowing 6.0 hits per nine innings and sophomore Aaron Weber ranks second in the Big 12 and 29th nationally with his seven saves.
• Mackenzie has reached base in 35 straight contests, while fourth-year junior outfielder Kendall Pettis has reached in 13 straight games. Junior infielder Dakota Harris leads the team with 13 multiple-hit games. Madron, Mackenzie and Carmichael each have 12 multi-hit games, and sophomore outfielder John Spikerman and freshman Rocco Garza-Gongora each have 11. Carmichael leads the team with 10 multiple-RBI games while Harris has nine, and Mackenzie and sophomore second baseman Jackson Nicklaus each have eight.
• Carmichael, Madron and Nicklaus lead the team with 35 RBIs apiece while Harris and Mackenzie follow with 33 and 31, respectively. Madron has notched a team-high 42 runs scored, Mackenzie has scored 41 runs and Pettis has 36 runs scored. Mackenzie (21) and Spikerman (20) lead OU in the stolen base department.
• Fifth-year senior utility player Diego Muniz was presented with the Mitchell Whitaker Award prior to Sunday's Go Mitch Go game vs. Kansas. The program's most prestigious honor is given each year to the player that works hard and embodies the qualities of Oklahoma Baseball. In his career, Muniz has started games in left field, right field, at third base and second base, and this season has made 18 starts at catcher, including in his last 14 contests (and each of OU's last seven games). He is batting .256 with five doubles, a home run, 13 RBIs, 12 runs scored, 11 walks and four steals and three runners caught stealing in 26 total games (22 starts) this season.
