OU Falls To Texas Tech in Regular Season Finale

NORMAN - The Oklahoma men's tennis team fell 4-2 to Texas Tech on Sunday afternoon to close the regular season.

The Sooners battled for the doubles point but came up short to the Red Raiders. Olle Wallin and Isaac Arevalo took court three over Jordan Hasson and Siphos Montsi 6-1. Texas Tech clinched the opening point with a 6-2 win from Franco Ribero and Piotr Pawlak over Alex Martinez and Justin Schlageter, 6-2, at the No. 2 spot.

Baptiste Anselmo and Nathan Han were down 3-4 to Reed Collier and Dimitrios Azoidis at the top court when play was halted.

Montsi opened up singles with a 6-3, 6-3 court-three win over Isaac Arevalo. Schlageter followed it up with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory on court four against Reed Collier. Texas Tech answered back three straight court wins.

Lorenzo Esquici defeated Han at the No. 5 spot with a 7-6 (2), 7-6 (7) win and Ribero extended the lead over Hasson on court two, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. To clinch the match, the Red Raiders' No. 47 Wallin took the top court in a back-and-forth battle with No. 98 Martinez, 1-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6).

When play was halted, Luis Alvarez was up 4-6, 6-4, 5-4 to Sebastian Abboud on court six.

UP NEXT

The Sooners will travel to Lawrence, Kan., to compete in the Big 12 Championships on April 21-23.
