Skip Johnson said. "We fought back, that was what was good. We took the lead, but we just couldn't maintain the lead. We just didn't get it done."

The Patriots took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a home run by designated hitter Ethan Mann. Oklahoma cut it to 3-1 in the fourth on an RBI single by Clark that scored Nicklaus. A home run by DBU left fielder Grant Jay in the top of the fifth made the score 4-1, but the Sooners stormed back with three runs in the bottom half to tie it 4-4.
Center fielder
John Spikerman hit a leadoff single and Garza-Gongora singled to shortstop, but a throwing error allowed Spikerman to score. Right fielder
Bryce Madron then doubled over the wall in right center, plating Garza-Gongora. A throwing error two batters later allowed Madron to score the tying run.
Oklahoma took its first lead in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by catcher
Easton Carmichael that plated Spikerman. An RBI single by DBU center fielder Nathan Humphreys tied it again, 5-5, in the seventh inning, but the Sooners went back in front in the bottom half. Nicklaus hit a leadoff double and came around to score on consecutive sacrifice bunts by Clark and Orduno.
Before Tuesday, OU had won four straight games against DBU in Norman dating back to 2015.
The Sooners go on the road for a Big 12 conference series this weekend at Kansas State. Game times are set for 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
