Sooners in Seventh at Florida State Match Up

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Oklahoma women's golf concluded the Florida State Match Up opening round in seventh at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club on Friday afternoon.

The Sooners and host Florida State (68-73-73-73-80=367) hold a slight edge over Purdue and Kent State (71-72-73-74-81=371) in the match up portion of the invitational. 

Mikhaela Fortuna is tied for 16th (2-over 74) and she is joined in the top 20 by Nina Lang and Savannah Barber, who each recorded a 3-over 75 and are tied for 19th.

The Sooners started the tournament on the 10th hole and Fortuna was 2-over 38 on the back nine. The Manila, Philippines product, opened the front nine with three birdies in the first four holes. Fortuna dropped a stroke on the second, seventh and eighth holes.

Lang opened her day 2-over through her first three holes and ended the back nine four over. She dropped in a birdie on the par-4 second hole and finished her final nine holes 1-under 35.

Barber dropped a stroke on her first hole and moved back to even with her first birdie on the 11th. A setback on the 18th hole dropped her back to 1-over 37. Barber sunk birdies on the second and sixth holes and moved to one under through 16 holes. She concluded the front nine 2-over 38.

Kaylee Vesely recorded the best back nine in the OU lineup and finished even par with a pair of birdies. Vesely concluded her round 6-over 78 and is tied for 41st.

Raychel Nelke recorded an 8-over 80 and is tied for 46th. Emily Hun, Oklahoma's lone individual in the field, finished 7-over 79 and is tied for 44th.
