CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The Oklahoma rowing team concluded its scrimmage against reigning West Conference Champions Gonzaga on Tuesday.
The scrimmage was split into two races that occurred at 10 a.m. and 10:10 a.m. CT
The Sooners' Varsity and Novice 8+ boats took to the water first on the 2,000-meter course. At the conclusion of the first race, the 1V8+ had a strong showing and the 2V8+ clinched the win against Gonzaga's 2V8+. While competing against an all Varsity 8+ lineup, OU's 1N8+ and 2N8+'s also had competitive races in the end.
In the second race of the day, Oklahoma's 1V4+ was very close with Gonzaga's 1V4+ and 2V4+. There was a just over a 3.5 second spread between first, second and third place.
In the afternoon, Oklahoma competed in a second session of racing, with distances shorter than the standard 2,000-meters. The 1V8+, 2V8+ and the 1V4+ walked away with big wins.

The Sooners will travel to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to take on Tennessee and Alabama on April 1 for the first official race of the season.
