Sooners Bounce Back With Win At Baylor

WACO, Texas - For the first time since 2004, the Oklahoma women's tennis team defeated Baylor in Waco, taking the win 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The match started with a clinched doubles point from OU. On court two, No. 8 Alexandra Pisareva and Layne Sleeth defeated Paula Baranano and Alina Shcherbinina 6-1. To claim the opening point, Julia Garcia Ruiz and Romana Cisovska took down Liubov Kostenko and Brooke Thompson at the No. 3 spot, 7-5.
When play was halted, No. 32 Carmen and Ivana Corley were down 5-2 against Isabella Harvison and Anita Sahdiieva.
OU took four straight courts to open singles action. Pisareva was first to finish with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Kostenko on court three. Sleeth followed right behind with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against No. 92 Harvison at the top court.
To clinch the match, Emma Staker defeated Sahdiieva on court four, 6-2, 6-4. Garcia Ruiz added another point to the board after taking down Baranano at the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 7-5.
The Bears answered with a court-six 6-3, 7-5 win from Danielle Dimitrov on court five over Ivana Corley.
The Sooners ended the match with a win on court two from No. 97 Carmen Corley against Shcherbinina, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 [10-6].

The Sooners will return home for a non-conference clash against SMU on Wednesday, March 15 at 1 p.m. CT.
