PEORIA, Ariz. ā Oklahoma women's golf concluded the first day of the Westbrook Invitational tied for 10th (+11, 587).
Nina Lang led the Sooners through the first 36 holes of the two-day tournament and is tied for 16th with an even par 144.
Kaylee Vesely joined Lang in top 25 and will enter the final round tied for 22nd. Vesely fired a 1-over 145.
"We struggled to get something going with our rounds today and we didn't make many birdies," said Oklahoma head women's golf coach
Veronique Drouin-Luttrell.Ā "We hope toĀ bounce back and give ourselves more looks tomorrow. We need to stay in the present and play one shot at a time."
Lang finished her first round with a 1-over 73. The Ingolstadt, Germany, product recorded three birdies in her first eight holes of the second round. Lang dropped a stoke on the 17th hole and concluded the final four holes of the front nine even.
Vesely tallied a 2-over 74 through her first 18 holes. She netted a birdie on her second hole of the second round and moved to 1-under after another birdie on the ninth. The Austin, Texas product recorded a clean scorecard through the back nine and netted her third birdie of the round on the par-5, 17th hole.
Mikhaela Fortuna enters the final 18 holes tied for 40th and tallied a 4-over 148.
Raychel Nelke is tied for 65th (8-over, 152) and
Emily Hun is 76th (13-over, 157).
Savannah Barber competed as an individual and is tied for 26th. Barber finished the opening round even and concluded the first 36 holes 2-over, 146.
