Men's Hoops Hosts UAPB at McCasland Field House

NORMAN – No. 25/RV Oklahoma men's basketball hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7:01 p.m. CT inside McCasland Field House. The non-conference contest will air on the Sooner Sports Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing and be broadcast by ESPN+ with Chad McKee (PxP) and Bryndon Manzer (analyst) on the call.

Thursday's contest at McCasland Field House is a student-only game. University of Oklahoma students will need to show their student ID and receive free admission. The first 500 students in attendance receive free popcorn and all students will receive a complimentary shirt.LAST TIME OUT
• Sophomore Otega Oweh's tip-in with 1.4 seconds left secured Oklahoma's 72-70 victory over then-No. 23/RV USC in the Rady Children's Invitational championship game on Friday, Nov. 24. Oweh finished with 16 points and junior Javian McCollum recorded a team-high 18 points en route to tournament MVP honors. Redshirt junior John Hugley IV added 14 points off the bench and buried a career-best four 3-pointers. Sophomore Milos Uzan added 10 points and a team-best four assists.• For the first time in 2023-24, Oklahoma was down at the half. The Sooner scored 36 points to USC's 31 in the second frame, including Oweh's last-second tip-in. OU shot 50.0% (30-60) from the field and 45.5% (10-22) from deep. The Sooners only attempted seven free throws, marking their lowest tally this season.

RADY CHILDREN'S INVITATIONAL
• Oklahoma won the 2023 Rady Children's Invitational with victories against Iowa on Thursday, Nov. 23 and then-No. 23/RV USC on Friday, Nov. 24. The Sooners improved to 9-2 in neutral site non-conference games under Porter Moser. OU's tournament victory in San Diego, Calif., marked back-to-back seasons the Sooners won their midseason event. Oklahoma won the 2022 ESPN Events Invitational, beating Nebraska, Seton Hall and Ole Miss.• Javian McCollum was named Rady Children's Invitational Tournament MVP, averaging 16.0 points, 3.0 assists and 1.5 rebounds per contest. Otega Oweh joined McCollum on the all-tournament team, finishing with 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest. John Hugley IV and Jalon Moore each averaged 11.0 points per outing over the two-game tournament and Milos Uzan dished out a team-best 6.5 assists per contest.
MORE ABOUT MCCASLAND
• The Sooners played their last regular season game in McCasland Field House during the 2012-13 slate, earning a 72-42 victory against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Prior to its matchup against the Islanders, OU had not played a regular season contest in the field house since March 5, 1975, against Iowa State. Alvan Adams recorded 43 points and 25 rebounds against the Cyclones.• OU Field House served as the Sooners' home from 1928-1975. Under head coach Hugh McDermott, Oklahoma won the first Field House game 45-19 against Phog Allen's Kansas squad on Jan. 13, 1928. More than 5,200 fans packed the stands to watch the Sooner victory. OU finished 18-0 that year, and Allen suffered only one worse defeat in his 38-year KU coaching career. Oklahoma's record in the OU Field House stands at 320-153 (.677).
• The Sooners won eight conference championships while playing in the facility (one Missouri Valley, six Big Six and one Big Seven). McDermott (11 seasons in the building), Bruce Drake (17), Doyle Parrack (7), Bob Stevens (5), John MacLeod (6) and Joe Ramsey (2) served as OU head coaches for teams that played in the Field House. Drake's 1938-39 and 1946-47 squads advanced to the NCAA semifinals and final, respectively.
• McCasland Field House is named after Howard McCasland, who was a standout center for the Sooners from 1914-16. As a captain on the 1915-16 team, McCasland scored 407 points.
