THE STARTING FIVE
- OU's 2023-24 season marks the 50th in program history as Oklahoma launched its women's basketball program in the 1974-75 year. Since its inception, Oklahoma has won a total of 12 conference championships and appeared in three Final Fours. The Sooners' 23 appearances in the NCAA Tournament are the second most in the Big 12 and 23rd most in the country.
- Skylar Vann poured in a career-high 24 points in OU's win over No. 12 Ole Miss on Thursday night in Oxford, Miss. The Cheryl Miller Award watch list honoree hit a career-best nine shots, including a pivotal and-1 opportunity late in the game to finish off the Rebels. The league's only two-time Big 12 Sixth Player of the Year winner, Vann has posted 48 career games of double-digit points and enters Sunday's game with 982 career points, just 18 shy of 1,000 for her career. The senior would become the 39th Sooner to eclipse 1,000 career points.
- The Sooners open the season ranked 23rd in the WBCA/USA Today poll and are unranked in the preseason AP poll.
- Since the Big 12 was launched in 1996, OU has been a stalwart of the league's women's basketball contingent. OU has won 11 Big 12 championship, reaching the NCAA Tournament 21 times since 1996, tied for second most in the league. All-time, Oklahoma has posted a 352-265 (.570) record vs. Big 12 teams.
- In just her second game as a Sooner, Sahara Williams posted a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double, becoming the sixth Sooner freshman ever to tally a double-double in one of their first two games. She joined Courtney Paris and Madi Williams as the only Sooner to do so since 2000.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's matchup between Oklahoma and Oral Roberts is the 38th all-time between the in-state foes. The Sooners lead the series 22-15, including an 11-6 mark in Norman.
OU has won 19 of the last 20 meetings, with ORU's lone win coming in 2016.
LAST TIME OUT
Skylar Vann scored a career-high 24 points,
Sahara Williams had a double-double and Oklahoma upended No. 12 Mississippi 80-70 on Thursday night. Behind Vann, the only player to win Big 12 Conference Sixth Player of the Year twice, the Sooners took charge by scoring the last six points of the third quarter and the first four of the fourth for a 66-57 lead. Ole Miss (1-1) got within five but the No. 23 Sooners (2-0) pulled away again. Vann hit a 3-pointer and followed it up with a three-point play on the next possession before her layup made it 80-66 with 1:43 to play.
