MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Oklahoma surrendered a pair of goals in each half and was downed by West Virginia, 4-0, on Thursday night in Morgantown.

The loss held Oklahoma (6-7-1, 2-3-1 Big 12) at seven points on the Big 12 table as the Sooners dropped their third straight match.

The first half was closer than the scoreboard showed, as OU was narrowly outshot 6-5 by the Mountaineers (4-7-3, 2-3-1 Big 12). However, the corner kicks proved pivotal, as OU didn't connect on either of its two corners in the first 45, while WVU scored both its goals from the corner spot. The first Mountaineer goal came in the 15th minute when the ball was played into the box from the corner spot and headed on net by Lisa Schppl, whose shot was saved by Sierra Giorgio. The rebound off Giorgio's hands landed at the right foot of Taylor White, who gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead. Later in the half, Maya McCutcheon made it 2-0 West Virginia when she scored off another Mountaineer corner kick in the 43rd minute.

The Mountaineers added two more goals in the second half, scoring in the 47th minute and again in the 68th. Oklahoma made a change in net, replacing Giorgio with Olivia Ramey in the 72nd minute and held WVU scoreless for the ramainder of the match as the Mountaineers didn't press.

Ramey made three impressive saves and didn't allow a goal in limited time. The Sooners were outshot on net 9-4 and took their fewest number of corners (5) since they tallied only three in a win over Murray State on Sept. 7,

The Sooners will remain on the road as head coach Matt Mott's team travels to Cincinnati for a Sunday afternoon matchup vs. the Bearcats (2-6-4, 1-2-2 Big 12), who defeated Oklahoma State, 1-0, on Thursday night. Sunday's game begins at noon CT and will be streamed on ESPN+.
