Oklahoma Rowing Closes Time at Head of the Charles
October 22, 2023 | Rowing
CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – The Oklahoma rowing team continued its 2023 fall slate at Head of the Charles in Cambridge, Mass. on Sunday.
After battling in a field of 22 collegiate and international crews, the Sooners' V4+ clinched 19th in the Women's Championship Fours. Later in the afternoon, OU's V8+ secured the 27th finish and kept the margins close in a field of 34 crews.
The V8+ squad had a better performance than last time the program was at the historic regatta in 2019. Today, they pushed past seven boats in contrast to 2019, where they placed ahead of four crews.
"I'm very proud of our fall squad. They tackled tough winds and tough competition at the most prestigious regatta in the country," said head coach Sarah Trowbridge. "They raced against national teams from multiple countries, including three United States senior national team boats and numerous Olympians. This was a great way to set a starting point for what needs to be a hard working year where we continue to fight for these gains."
The 2024 spring schedule will be released at a later date.
