Hawkins Collects Big 12 Weekly Honors

NORMAN — Oklahoma soccer senior forward Emma Hawkins was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced the weekly honors Tuesday.

Hawkins had an impressive week for the Sooners, tallying a pair of goals, including one game-winner, in as many matches. It marked her first two goals as a Sooner.

Thursday night's goal came in dramatic fashion as the senior went up-and-over with a bicycle kick to seal the OU victory and knock off previously unbeaten North Texas. Hawkins continued the hot streak Sunday night with an equalizer in the 62nd minute vs. No. 15 SMU to earn OU a point with a 1-1 draw.

On the week, the Forney, Texas, product had two goals on five shots to tally four points.

The weekly accolade marks OU's second conference honor in the first three weeks of the season after senior goalie Makinzie Short collected Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Aug. 23.

Hawkins and the Sooners return to action Thursday night in Tulsa for a 7 p.m. CT match vs. Tulsa. 918 Sooners can buy tickets through the Golden Hurricanes' site. The game can be seen via ESPN+.
