Duo Leads OU in Carmel Cup Second Round

PEBBLE BEACH – Meagn Winans and Maria Fernanda Martinez each recorded a 1-over 73 and the Oklahoma women's golf team concluded its second round of the Carmel Cup Saturday.
The Sooners finished their round 12-over 372, improving on their first-round total by 12 strokes. Oklahoma is eighth and is only one stroke behind Vanderbilt.
Mikhaela Fortuna continues to pace the Sooners and is tied for 12th (2-over, 146). She fired a 2-over 74 and tallied a pair of birdies on the third and seventh holes.
Nina Lang finished her second round 4-over 77 and is tied for 24th.
Winans finished her first nine holes of the day even and dropped a birdie on the par-4 340 yard third hole. After dropping a pair of strokes on the 16th hole, she responded with a birdie on her final hole of the day. She is tied for 26th (9-over, 152).
Martinez and Savannah Barber recorded a team-high three birdies on the day. Martinez netted a birdie on 18 to conclude her team-leading 1-over 73 round with Winans.
Barber tallied her best round of the tournament, firing a 3-over 75. She dropped back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth holes and netted her final birdie on the 13th hole.
Raychel Nelke finished the second round 5-over 78 and is tied for 44th.
