NORMAN āĀ University of Oklahoma head wrestling coachĀ Lou RosselliĀ announced the Sooners' 2022-23 schedule Tuesday.
The Sooners will appear in 11 duals throughout the campaign while also competing at two open and two dual style tournaments.
"We are very excited about this upcoming year," Rosselli said. "Sooner nation will have some new faces in the line up to look forward to. We have had a great summer and I expect a lot of them. This group will be fun to watch. Let's pack McCasland!"
Rosselli's squad opens their schedule in the same way they have five of the last six years when they enter the Michigan State Open on Nov. 5. The team took three titles from six finalists in their last trip to East Lansing in 2021.
OU then travels Nov. 12-13 to compete in two Journeymen Wrestling competitions. On Nov. 12, the Sooners will face off against Buffalo and Lehigh as a part of the Journeymen WrangleMania duals before taking on a stacked field in the Journeymen Collegiate Classic on the 13th.
Dual action starts with two straight home matches as OU squares off with Arkansas-Little Rock on Nov. 11 and hosts the first of the two annual Bedlam duals on Dec. 11 to wrap up the fall slate.
Awaiting the Sooners in the new year is a trip to Edinboro, Pa., for a dual with Coach Rosselli's alma mater on Jan. 7Ā before the team enters the Bobby KaufmanĀ Open the next day. The team last squared off with the Fighting Scots in a 31-6 victory in 2019.
OU then heads east to Hampton, Va., for its second straight year at the Virginia Duals. The Sooners appeared in the event last season, going 3-0 and winning by a margin of 76 total points across the three matches.
The conference slate in 2023 starts off with a dual against West Virginia in Norman on Jan. 20. The Sooners follow that up with a weekend trip through Iowa to face Iowa State in Ames on Jan. 27 before a trip to Cedar Falls to face off with Northern Iowa on Jan. 29.
Back-to-back matches in the friendly confines of McCasland Field House against Missouri and Rider on Feb. 3 and 5 come before another road trip for the Sooners. This time they will head up to the Dakotas for conference duals against North Dakota State in Fargo, N.D., on Feb. 10 and South Dakota State in Brookings, S.D., Feb. 12.
The squad's final regular-season test comes in the form of Bedlam in Stillwater. The official date of the match is still to be determined but is slated for the weekend of Feb. 17-20.
The Big 12 Championship returns to Tulsa's BOK Center for the seventh-consecutive season on March 4-5, with the venue also set to host the NCAA Wrestling Championships for the first time in its history March 16-18.
All times for duals will be determined closer to the competitions. Every home dual for the Sooners is scheduled to be held at historic McCasland Field House.
