Sooners Set for U.S. Championships

NORMAN – Senior Vitaliy Guimaraes, junior Daniel Simmons and Sooner alumnus Yul Moldauer are set to compete at the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships August 18-21 from Amali Arena in Tampa, Florida.

The U.S. Gymnastics Championships feature the country's top artistic gymnasts and serve as the last event of the domestic season. 46 gymnasts are set to compete for the men's senior division, which Guimaraes, Moldauer and Simmons will compete in. Champions will be crowned based on combined two-day totals, and the USA Gymnastics National Teams will be named at the conclusion of the event.

Guimaraes and Moldauer are both current U.S. Senior National Team members. 2020 Olympian Moldauer was the runner-up in the 2021 U.S. Championships. Guimares claimed Winter Cup champion with his all-around score at the 2022 Winter Cup in February.

Both athletes competed at the 2022 DTB Pokal Team Challenge in March, where the U.S. earned gold and Moldauer had top-five finishes on three events. He also led the U.S. to gold at the Pan American Championships this summer where he claimed gold on three events and silver in the all-around.

Simmons clinched a spot for the Championships at the U.S. Classic in July.

The men will compete on Thursday, August 18 at 6 p.m. CT and Saturday, August 20 at 6 p.m. CT.

Senior men's Day 1 will air live on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. The final day of senior men's competition will be broadcast live on CNBC and will also air tape delay on NBC Sunday at 11:30 a.m. CT. All senior competitions will also stream live on Peacock.
